“Smart” gadgets are gradually entering our lives: smart watches will not only tell the time, but also notify about incoming messages and calls, fitness bracelets will measure pressure and temperature, and a high-tech pen will digitize handwritten text. Such a unique writing instrument was presented by Livescribe.
Livescribe has officially announced a smart pen called Livescribe 3. The gadget will surely interest many fans of electronic devices. After all, it allows you to "digitize" handwritten text and drawings.
At first glance, the Livescribe 3 looks like an ordinary but very stylish pen. However, this is not quite true. Instead of the usual paste, it has a special ink cartridge. The pen also comes with a built-in Bluetooth 4.0 module and a rechargeable battery, which, according to the manufacturer, will last for 14 hours of battery life. You can also use the Livescribe 3 pen as a stylus.
A special application that must be installed on a mobile device allows you to digitize records. With its help, the user can also search for text on previously saved records, accompany notes with audio comments and publish them on social networks.
So far, the Livescribe 3 pen is only compatible with Apple devices: iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c smartphones, iPod touch 5G and iPad 3, 4, iPad Air and iPad mini tablets. It connects to them via a Bluetooth 4.0 Low Energy wireless interface. Soon, the developers promise to add support for Android devices.
Livescribe 3 also has a drawback: for the pen to work correctly, you need to use special paper.
You can order the Livescribe 3 smart pen for $ 149.95 on the official website of the manufacturer.
