What is the most important thing about a cell phone for the average user? Some are simply satisfied with mobility, for others the computing capacity of devices is critical, and still others see smartphones as an exclusively entertainment component - and there are the largest number of such users. Be that as it may, manufacturers of modern gadgets are trying with all their might to please everyone, creating ever smarter, more powerful, convenient and, of course, larger phones.
Tablet or tablet / smartphone hybrid
If you ask an IT professional what the largest phones in the world look like, the answer is something like, "This is a tablet computer with all the features and conveniences of a smartphone." In 2016, an increasing part of the market began to be occupied by the so-called tablet phones - hybrids of tablets and phones (hence the name). Today they are produced by such IT giants as Samsung, HTC, Sony, Nokia and, incidentally, all other companies competing in this market segment. Each manufacturer offers users their own unique designs of tablet phones, which differ not only in performance and the presence of various "chips", but also in the size of the screen. Let's consider some of them.
Xperia Z Ultra
At the moment, this touch "giant" is still at the top of the list of phones with the largest screens. The diagonal of the plafond display is 6.4 inches (as much as 16.2 cm!). The brainchild of Sony not only competes with smartphones from other manufacturers, but somewhere even pushes 7-inch tablets out of the market, such as the Google Nexus 7.
Of course, the large size is not the only thing that this phone can boast of. Waterproof case, 4-core processor with a total frequency of 2.2 GHz, 2 GB of RAM, 16 GB of flash memory, 8 MP camera, resolution 1080 x 1920 - in general, the technical characteristics of the Xperia Z Ultra are at a fairly high level. And among the "chips" it is worth noting a sensitive sensor, which can be controlled by touching any objects at all - not just fingers.
Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3
In terms of screen size, this smartphone is quite a bit short of its competitor from Sony. The diagonal of the Galaxy Mega is 6.3-inches (just over 16 cm). Moreover, its price is about 25-30% lower. It was the last factor that made Mega a competitor to similar tablet phones, including the brainchild of Sony. In terms of performance, the Galaxy Mega is inferior to the Xperia Z Ultra: 1.7 GHz processor, 1.5 GB of RAM. As for the screen - here Mega also disappointed. For such a diagonal, its resolution is only 720 x 1280 pixels, which is not enough by modern standards.
Huawei Ascend Mate
In third place in our ranking of "giants" is the tablet phone of the Chinese manufacturer Huawei. The Ascend Mate received a rather large screen of 6.1 inches (about 15.5 cm). However, its resolution is also small, like the Galaxy Mega - only 720 x 1280 pixels. But Huawei decided to take the viewing angle. Thanks to IPS technology, the picture from the Ascend Mate's screen is clearly visible from different angles. In terms of performance, this phone sits somewhere between the two previous models - 1.5 GHz processor and 2 GB RAM.
Definitely, the rating we have compiled may change tomorrow, if it did not happen yesterday. IT corporations are not asleep - we can definitely say that right now engineers in their laboratories are creating more and more devices with even larger screens, technical characteristics and convenience.
