Galaxy S5 is Samsung's new flagship with fingerprint scanner and heart rate monitor

In the framework of the MWC 2014 conference that opened in Barcelona, Samsung presented its long-awaited novelty - the top-end smartphone Galaxy S5. It will replace last year's flagship Galaxy S4.

The new smartphone turned out to be quite interesting, although outwardly it does not differ much from its predecessor. It is also wrapped in a polycarbonate body, with the only difference that its back cover is not glossy and smooth, but perforated. The shell of the smartphone reliably protects it from dust, dirt and even moisture. However, it is still not recommended to completely "flush" the device.

The Galaxy S5 features a 5.1-inch touchscreen display that retains its resolution at 1920 x 1080 pixels. Below it is the physical Home button, which, like the iPhone 5s, now has a built-in fingerprint scanner. The device is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core mobile chipset with a clock speed of 2.5 GHz and 2 GB of RAM. There are also two cameras - front and main. The latter received a 16-megapixel sensor and support for recording videos with 4K (Ultra HD) resolution.

Another feature of the new flagship, in addition to the fingerprint sensor, is the sensor for determining the heart rate. The same heart rate monitor is built into the LED flash located on the back of the case next to the camera.

Unfortunately, information about the cost of the new item and the timing of its appearance on sale has not yet been reported. It is only reported that it will be available in two versions - with 16 and 32 GB of internal memory, as well as in four colors - traditional dark blue and white, as well as blue and gold.
