Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, has placed the burden on his state to formulate a plan and order for the colonization of Mars. The UAE intends to unite the efforts of scientists around the world to create an alternative to projects like Mars One or SpaceX. And the first step along this path has already been taken.
If all goes according to plan, the UAE will launch its probe to the Red Planet in 2021. In the meantime, there is a lot of work at home - in September in Dubai, they announced their intentions to build an extensive testing ground in the desert for testing technologies for the construction of Martian settlements. Any possible technologies and solutions will be tested - the Emirates will take over the organizational and financial components of the project.
In the meantime, there is nothing in reality yet, you can visit Mars-2117 in virtual space. This is a large, developed interactive world in which you can see all aspects of the creation and operation of a settlement for 600, 000 people on another planet. And imagine yourself as a colonist.
The virtual tour includes a visit to a mining quarry and construction site, acquaintance with a fleet of machines designed for Mars. It will be possible to look under the dome of the City of Wisdom, where the first Martian university was opened, see samples of the local architecture and “communicate” with the local population - digital images controlled by neural networks.
